ISSUE Project Room is pleased to announce TEN YEARS ALIVE ON THE INFINITE PLAIN – a two-month festival in Fall 2013, bringing together a rich cross-section of over 50 groundbreaking interdisciplinary artists from Brooklyn and beyond, in celebration of ISSUE’s ten year history of artist innovation. Across more than 20 performances, the festival will reflect upon the last ten years and look towards the future, as ISSUE prepares to occupy our newly renovated theater in Downtown Brooklyn.
To support this landmark festival, ISSUE has been offered a special challenge grant opportunity by supporter Robert Bielecki, requiring a 2:1 match. If ISSUE raises $20,000 in support for Ten Years Alive on the Infinite Plain, Bielecki will contribute an additional $10,000. All Membership pledges or renewals made before July 30 will help ISSUE reach this critical goal. JOIN OR RENEW NOW to help ISSUE celebrate a decade of presenting groundbreaking experimental artistry.
In addition to our year-round Membership benefits, all contributors to this Campaign receive an invitation to our exclusive July 2 preview event featuring performances by pioneering artists Tony Conrad and Yasunao Tone.
Tomorrow, Thursday June 6th ISSUE presents Nate Wooley’s Seven Storey Mountain IV, for ecstatic instruments and tape. The most recent iteration of Wooley’s seven part song cycle, this concert presents all sections of the work in their entirety for the first time, performed by an all-star and epic group of musicians including Chris Corsano(drums), Ryan Sawyer (drums), Ben Vida (electronics), C. Spencer Yeh (violin), Matt Moran (vibraphone), Chris Dingman (vibraphone), TILT Brass sextet, , and Wooley himself on trumpet, creating “breathy, lightly pitched, sometimes squawking, sometimes almost spoken sounds that whispered over a dense shimmer of other instruments” (New York Times).
